Best Time to Start Seeds?

  • Indoors: Start seeds indoors around April 23 to give them a strong start.
  • Greenhouse: Move potted plants into a greenhouse by the first week of May.
  • Outdoor planting: In most regions, including mine, zone 7a (find your zone here), it’s best to plant outside in the first three weeks of June.

If you’re in a cooler climate, look for seed varieties that mature in 7-8 weeks, so they’re ready to harvest by the end of September.
